I recently ordered some fabric online and it arrived yesterday. The red floral and the navy polka dot are both cotton. I also ordered some fabric for coursework so thank goodness its arrived already so I can have time to make it before I go back to school. That's what the grey and beige chiffon are for. Not particularly exciting colours but it works with my project so fingers crossed I get a good grade. The last fabric I ordered was PVC. It is actually transparent and not silvery as the photographs show. I'm planning to experiment with making cosmetic bags or clear pencil cases with a floral trim. I'm not sure about other countries, but in England, we can only take transparent pencil cases into exams, so if I have a pretty pencil case, I will feel happier. Well, as happy as you can be in an exam. And finally I bought a few zips for making pencil cases and elastic for simple pyjama shorts or skirts.

This scarf was my first attempt at knitting. It took me about a month from start to finish and it's made out of 100% acrylic yarn in an olive green colour that I bought in the charity shop I volunteer in, for £1.49 a ball. I used stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch to get the striped effect. It's about 1.20m in length. I started making a pair of mittens to match but have only got round to making 1 so far. It almost seems not worth it since it's not cold enough to need gloves.

Just a few photographs of an upcoming project. It's just a quick one since I really should be concentrating on coursework but I've been hit badly by the procrastination bug. I was supposed to be working solidly this half-term break but I've gone into holiday mode and can't be bothered to do anything school-related. Not good since the deadline for my coursework is the first day back on Monday. Eek!

These photographs are only snippets of what I've recently been getting up to because if you can't tell from the photos, I've been experimenting with making simple underwear and I don't feel comfortable showing any more than this. 

I used an old t-shirt, stretch lace, elastic and 2 buttons. To get the pattern, I chose an old pair that fits me comfortably and just traced around it. I specifically chose a pair that used stretch lace around the leg holes because I already had a few metres of this lying around and didn't fancy buying anything new for this quick project. All in all, I probably spent about an hour on this, which included making the pattern so I think I'll be making more of these in the future.

If you want to try this yourself, I recommend that when your tracing your pattern, that you stretch your underwear as much as possible since my first attempt went wrong and were a wee bit too small.

This post is just to show more photographs of my Pre-Raphaelite inspired dress. I'm sorry for the image overload. They're not even good quality photographs since didn't use a nice camera and the dress wouldn't fit over my dress form due a short zip (my fault) so I have no photographs of what it looks like on. Perhaps when I get it back, I'll be able to post better photographs.

Some of the things I didn't mention in my other post were that I lined the bodice with a Liberty of London cotton lawn which happens to be designed by Pre-Raphaelite member, William Morris. I also had to add extra support to the shoulder strap to hold all the draping down or it would do its own thing. The skirt is made up of a base skirt which is just a simple A-Line skirt with a few darts in the back. I then draped chiffon over the sides to create a petal/ tulip look. My photographs make this look confusing so new photographs really would help. Oh well... I'm just glad to have handed this project in already.

Phone Sock

This little thing was knitted out of pure boredom and the fact that my other phone sock was looking a little grubby. This one was knitted from some of the wool I found in the attic. It was supposed to be a Phone Sock, but I'm thinking it's more of a Phone Jumper. I just made up the pattern as I went along. I'm only a beginner knitted which shows that anyone can make this for their own phone or iPod or whatever you need it for. I apologise for the awful quality of the photographs. Thats what you get for using your iPod touch to take the photographs in bad lighting. 

cream lace collar hand

The cream lace collar was bought from the Rag Market just outside of the Bullring in Birmingham and the 16" gold chain necklace came from My Vintage Charms. I painstakingly hand sewed the two together with a beading needle since it was the only thing that would fit through the links. It couldn't be simpler to make so I recommend this as a beginners project.

Handmade chunky scarf (taken with instagram) I'm quite liking the effect that this app creates.

I bought the wool at the charity shop I volunteer at. It's true colour is this lovely slate grey but unfortunately it's 100% acrylic. I ended up using almost 4 skeins. It would have gone a lot further if I hadn't decided to use a knit 2 purl 2 rib stitch because you can't even tell it's ribbed and it just make the scarf twice as thick. Not quite what I was going for, but I've still been wearing it. It was my first time experimenting with adding tassels too and I would call it a success.

Pre-Raphaelite inspired dress

This dress was made as part of a school project in which I looked at art-influenced fashion. I decided to make my own art-influenced fashion so chose the Pre-Raphaelites and after a little research this is my outcome. I used a light-weight cotton for the base of the dress which I drafted myself. I then put this on my mannequin and draped chiffon over the top of it. Next, I spent hours hand sewing it down and then finished it off as I would with any other strapless, boned dress. Fingers crossed I get a good grade.

navy coat

This coat was made over two years ago. It took forever to finish due to procrastination but I finally finished it to debut on my 16th birthday. It was well worth the wait. I've been wearing it ever since and it's looking a little worse for wear after 2 years. I used McCalls 5531 as the pattern and the fabric I used was a navy wool. It's lined with a plaid-like polyester and I found these cute buttons with anchors on them to use as the fastening.

braided necklace

This necklace was inspired by a Burdastyle project. I used a recycled khaki t-shirt, gold chain, ribbon crimp and screw clasp. I ended up giving this to my sister as her Christmas present and I've not seen her wear it since. Oh well... It was a quick project.
