This was a necklace I made for my Mum's birthday and I followed this tutorial by Tilly of Tilly & The Buttons.

For this necklace I used scraps of fabric that I had leftover from previous things: a printed silk for the body of the necklace and a plain navy cotton for the straps to add length to the necklace and because I thought the silk would be too slippery to knot it for the fastening. I used beads from an old necklace and to prevent the pattern from the beads showing through the printed silk fabric, I added an extra layer of white polyester lining fabric.

Hopefully, Mum will like it. I picked fabric in colours she wears alot. Towards the end of finishing the necklace, I did start to rush it as I knew she'd be back soon hence the messy topstitching at the end of the straps. I should have used a matching navy thread...

P.S. I have no idea what is going on with my ear in the 3rd photo. Weird...

What is this? The third tote bag I've shared with the internet? This one I actually made tonight to give to a friend. Just to cheer her up.

I used a pink floral cotton with a contrasting cream cotton for the applique. I used a  small zig-zag stitch to attach the applique to the body of the bag which I've only done once before and I recommend ironing interfacing or using a spray adhesive because mine puckered and doesn't look very neat close up. I hope she likes it although I think she prefers blue or green colours...

The bag actually folds up in a nice little pouch. I think this would make a nice first tutorial. I might just have to make another tote bag to do so. Is a tutorial a good idea? I'd quite like to start a few tutorials since I follow many DIY blogs and who doesn't love a good how-to?

This is a gift to my sister for her 16th. I didn't actually buy anything new for this project so saved some money there and I've actually been reducing my fabric stash. It needs some serious sorting out before it takes over my room. Both pillows are about 30" square. I used a plaid shirt to cover the first pillow and then stripey jeans and a white denim skirt for the other. I actually made the cushion inner myself. I used polyfiller stuffing for one of them, and scraps of fabric for the other one. The scrap fabric pillow is considerably heavier but I think it will be just as comfy because I personally can't stand pillows if they're too soft. I thought it was also a good way to use up the little scrap of fabric that won't get used up for anything else. I might be making myself some of these in the future if my sister approves of them.
